Taipei's nightlife is built around good drinks. The city has some of Asia's most awarded cocktail bars, a cluster of big clubs and sky bars in Xinyi, and live music from basement clubs to seated supper-club shows. Plan your night around the MRT's last trains, or budget for a taxi home.

Cocktail bars on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026
Asia's 50 Best Bars, announced in July 2026 in Macau, ranks the region's bars each year, with an extended list from 51 to 100. Four Taipei bars made the 2026 list. Taiwan's top entry is Vender in Taichung at No. 14, and Tainan's The Han-Jia (酣呷) entered the top 50 for the first time at No. 41.
- To Infinity & Beyond, No. 35. Taipei's highest-ranked bar, up from No. 41 in 2025. A space-themed bar that opened in December 2019, led by Mars Chang, the 2021 World Class Taiwan Bartender of the Year; the menu is organized by texture (creamy, clarified, carbonated) and made with techniques like distillation and centrifugation. No. 13, Lane 160, Sec. 1, Dunhua S. Rd., Da'an District. MRT: Zhongxiao Dunhua Station (Blue Line, BL16).
- Bar Mood, No. 82. Bartender Nick Wu's elegant bar for creative cocktails and Taiwanese and Japanese whisky, with real food alongside. Open evenings every day. No. 53, Lane 160, Sec. 1, Dunhua S. Rd., on the same lane as To Infinity & Beyond. MRT: Zhongxiao Dunhua Station (Blue Line, BL16).
- The Public House, No. 92. William Wu's take on a British pub, with craft cocktails, open Tuesday to Sunday evenings and until 4am, a rare late option. On Sec. 4, Xinyi Rd., Da'an District, between Daan Station (Red Line, R05) and Xinyi Anhe Station (Red Line, R04).
- Lab, No. 99. The fourth Taipei bar on the 2026 extended list.
Good to know: hours and booking rules change. Check each bar's own page or social account on the day, and book where the bar takes reservations.
Xinyi: clubs and rooftops
Xinyi, the district around Taipei 101, is where the big nights out happen. ATT 4 FUN at No. 12, Songshou Rd. is a mall with a whole nightlife side: its floor guide lists the clubs Ai Nightclub, WAVE CLUB Taipei and Babylon, alongside Billboard Live Taipei, a 288-seat live music club on the 7th floor.
For a drink with a view, CÉ LA VI Taipei is on the 48th floor of Breeze Nan Shan, No. 17, Songzhi Rd., open daily from 11am until late, with a sky bar, a lounge and a restaurant. The nearest MRT stations are Taipei 101/World Trade Center (Red Line, R03) and Taipei City Hall (Blue Line, BL18).

Live music
Taipei has a lively band scene. For a small show, try The Wall in Gongguan or Riverside Live House at the Red House in Ximending; for a bigger name, check Legacy Taipei at Huashan 1914 and the live houses at Taipei Music Center. Each venue posts its own listings; see how to buy tickets.
The rules: drinking age and alcohol
- Drinking age: 18. Taiwan's Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act bans anyone under 18 from drinking alcohol, and bans anyone from selling, giving or supplying alcohol to them. Selling or supplying alcohol to a minor is fined NT$10,000 to NT$100,000.
- Never drink and drive. The legal limit for drivers is 0.15 mg of alcohol per liter of breath, or 0.03% blood alcohol, which is low. Riding a bicycle, YouBike included, over the limit is also fined.
- No drinking on the Metro. Eating and drinking are banned in the MRT's no-eating zones, which in Taipei means past the fare gates and on the trains, and the fine is NT$1,500 to NT$7,500. Finish your drink before you tap in.
Getting home: the last MRT
The Metro does not run all night. Last trains leave most central stations between about midnight and 1am, and the last train that connects to another line can be much earlier, especially to the Circular Line and the Xinbeitou and Xiaobitan branches (from about 23:20). Times are the same every day of the week. From the nightlife stations:
| Station | Last trains | Last connections |
|---|---|---|
| Zhongxiao Dunhua (BL16) | 00:24 to Dingpu, 00:56 to Nangang Exhibition Center | Red and Orange lines 00:24; Circular Line 23:33 to 23:49; Xinbeitou 23:33 |
| Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (BL17) | 00:22 to Dingpu, 00:57 to Nangang Exhibition Center | Red and Orange lines 00:22; Circular Line 23:31 to 23:47 |
| Zhongshan (R11, G14) | 00:38 to Tamsui, 00:43 to Guangci/Fengtian Temple, 00:46 on the Green Line | Blue Line at Taipei Main Station 00:43; Xinbeitou 23:47 |
| Gongguan (G07) | 00:18 to Songshan, 00:59 to Xindian | Red and Blue lines 00:18 |
