Two Days in Taipei

The old west side on day one, the modern east side on day two.

Two days lets Taipei show you both of its faces. Day one is the old west side: Longshan Temple, Ximending, the 19th-century trading street of Dadaocheng, and a night market. Day two is the east: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Yongkang Street, Da'an Park, Taipei 101 and the sunset from Elephant Mountain. Each day is a string of short MRT rides, most under 10 minutes.

Questions

What is the best 2-day Taipei itinerary?

Spend day one on the old west side (Longshan Temple, Ximending, Dadaocheng and Dihua Street, Zhongshan, Ningxia Night Market) and day two on the east side (Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Yongkang Street, Da'an Forest Park, Taipei 101, Elephant Mountain and Raohe Street Night Market).

Two days covers the main sights at a brisk pace. Add a third day for the National Palace Museum, Beitou hot springs or the Maokong Gondola, and more days for trips to Jiufen or Tamsui.

How do I get around Taipei in two days?

By MRT. Every stop in this plan is near a station, and most rides between them take under 10 minutes and cost NT$20 to NT$30.
