Taipei 101 (台北101) is the tower you see from everywhere in the city, and going up it is the easiest big view in Taipei. One of the world's fastest elevators takes you to the 89th-floor observatory, 382 meters up, in about 37 seconds. From there you look straight down on Xinyi District and out across the whole Taipei Basin to the mountains.
- Hours 10:00 to 21:00 daily; last admission 20:15. Hours can change on holidays and long weekends, so check the official site.
- Entry From NT$600 (89F Main Deck, adult, official online shop)
- Tickets and entrance Observatory ticket counter on the 1st floor of the Office Tower (moved there from 1 July 2026)
- Address No. 7, Sec. 5, Xinyi Rd., Xinyi District
- MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (Red Line, R03)
Which ticket to buy
The official online ticket shop lists four observatory tickets. Prices are for one adult, checked October 2026.
| Ticket | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Main Deck | The 89th-floor indoor observatory and the wind damper on the 88th floor | NT$600 |
| Top Deck | The 89th floor plus the 101st floor, now a sky garden of Taiwanese ferns and orchids | NT$980 |
| Express Pass | Fast-track lane up and down, 88th and 89th floors only (not the 101st) | NT$1,200 |
| Skyline 460 | A guided walk on the outdoor platform at the top, 460 meters up, then the 89th floor | NT$3,000 |
For most people the Main Deck is the one to pick: the view from 89 is the view. The Top Deck adds the highest indoor floor and its plant displays. The Express Pass is only worth it on a holiday afternoon when the queue for the lift is long.
Skyline 460, the outdoor walk
Skyline 460 is the official name for the open-air platform on the roof, which used to be reserved for VIPs. You go up in a small group, clipped on with safety gear, and walk the platform with nothing between you and the sky. The rules are strict:
- Sessions at 14:00 and 15:00, about 50 minutes each, with a small daily limit. Book ahead.
- Ages 12 to 75, height 145 cm or more, weight 30 to 120 kg. Wear trousers and flat shoes.
- Check in at the 1st-floor counter 30 minutes before your session. You sign a safety agreement on the day.
- It is cancelled in bad weather, with a full refund. No tripods or selfie sticks; phones and glasses get lanyards.
- Not recommended if you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, asthma, epilepsy, a fear of open spaces, or are pregnant.
What to see up there
- The view, 89F: 360 degrees of the city, with high-powered telescopes and an audio and video tour you start by QR code. When the weather is good, part of the deck opens outdoors.
- The wind damper, 88F: the giant golden ball that keeps the tower steady in strong winds, 5.5 meters across and 660 tonnes. You can stand right beside it.
- The world's highest postbox: send a postcard from the 89th floor.
Good to know: clouds can hide everything, so check the sky before you buy a timed ticket. The best photo of Taipei 101 itself is from outside it: the short, steep climb up Elephant Mountain next door, one MRT stop away.
Getting there
Take the Red Line to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (R03); the tower is right above it. Go to the Office Tower 1st floor for the observatory counter. The TAIPEI 101 Mall below (B1 to 6F) opens 11:00 to 21:30 Sunday to Thursday and 11:00 to 22:00 on Friday, Saturday and the eve of national holidays.
