Baseball is Taiwan's favorite sport, and a game of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中華職棒) is one of the best nights out in Taipei. You do not need to follow the league or even like baseball much: the show in the stands, with cheerleaders, drums, chants and a song for every batter, is half the fun. Tickets are cheap next to a concert, games start in the early evening, and all three ballparks below are reached by MRT.
Who plays in and around Taipei
The CPBL has six teams, each owned by a big Taiwanese company. Two of them play home games in the Taipei area, and the Taipei Dome hosts home games of all six.
| Ballpark | Home team | 2026 regular-season games | Nearest MRT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taipei Dome | Shared by all six teams; the Wei Chuan Dragons had the most | 58 | Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (BL17) |
| Tianmu Baseball Stadium | Wei Chuan Dragons | 40 | Zhishan (R17), then shuttle or bus |
| Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium (New Taipei) | Fubon Guardians | 50 | Xinzhuang (O18), Exit 1, about 12 minutes on foot |
Of the 58 Dome games in 2026, the Wei Chuan Dragons hosted 16, the CTBC Brothers 11, the Fubon Guardians 10, the Rakuten Monkeys 8, the TSG Hawks 7 and the Uni-President Lions 6. The Rakuten Monkeys' own home is in Taoyuan, and the other three teams are based in Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. If your trip takes you to Taichung, Inside Taichung explains how to catch a CTBC Brothers home game there.
When the season runs
- Regular season Late March to late September: 120 games per team, 60 at home. The 2026 season opened on March 28 at the Taipei Dome, and the 2025 season on March 29.
- All-Star Game In July; in 2026 it was played at the Taipei Dome.
- Postseason A playoff series in early October, then the best-of-seven Taiwan Series (台灣大賽). In 2026 the Taiwan Series opened on October 17 and ended on October 26 at the Taipei Dome, when the Wei Chuan Dragons beat the CTBC Brothers 6-0 in Game 6 for their sixth title, after a typhoon postponed Game 5 twice.
- 2027 The league had not announced the 2027 schedule when we checked. Expect opening day in late March again, and look for the schedule on the CPBL website over the winter.
- Game times Weekday games start at 18:35. Weekend and holiday games start at 17:05, and some at 16:05 or 15:05.
The Dome has a roof, so rain does not stop play there. Tianmu and Xinzhuang are open-air; Tianmu's artificial turf drains fast, but rain and typhoons can still postpone games, so check the team's page on the day.
Taipei Dome
- Capacity About 40,000
- Address No. 515, Sec. 4, Zhongxiao E. Rd., Xinyi District
- MRT Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station (Blue Line, BL17), Exits 4 and 5; the elevator is at Exit 4
The Taipei Dome (臺北大巨蛋) opened in 2023 and is Taiwan's first indoor stadium of this size, built to world baseball standards. It is the easiest game for a visitor: right on the Blue Line, air-conditioned, and next to Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and the Xinyi shopping district. The 58 regular-season games in 2026 drew 1,231,778 fans, an average of over 21,000 a game, so buy ahead for weekends and big matchups.
For a Dragons or Guardians home game, the home cheering zones are the B1 infield seats behind the dugouts, and away fans sit in left field. Expect a bag check at the entrance; glass bottles are not allowed.
Tianmu Baseball Stadium
- Capacity About 10,500
- Address No. 77, Sec. 2, Zhongcheng Rd., Shilin District
- MRT Zhishan Station (Red Line, R17), then the baseball shuttle or bus Red 15; or Shilin Station (Red Line, R16), then bus Red 12
Tianmu Baseball Stadium (天母棒球場) is the Wei Chuan Dragons' open-air home in the leafy Tianmu neighborhood, opened in 1999. It is smaller and closer to the field than the Dome, and the Dragons have filled it with special seats: a barbecue area, family tables, glamping tents and terrace loungers. On weekend and holiday home games in 2026, a baseball shuttle ran from Exit 1 of Zhishan Station, from two hours before the first pitch until 30 minutes after it. City buses 203, 268, 279, 285, 602, 606, 616, 645, 646 and 685 stop at Tianmu Baseball Stadium too.
Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium
- Capacity About 12,100
- Address No. 66, Hexing St., Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City
- MRT Xinzhuang Station (Orange Line, O18), Exit 1, then about 12 minutes on foot; or Taishan Station on the Airport MRT (A5), about 20 minutes on foot
Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium (新莊棒球場) is the home of the Fubon Guardians, who have run it since 2017. From Exit 1 of Xinzhuang Station, turn right on Zhonghua Road, left on Gongyuan Road and right on Hexing Street. YouBike stations sit at both the station and the ballpark. Note that infield and outfield are separate here: an outfield ticket does not get you into the infield, including its food counters.
Tickets and prices
Each home team sells its own tickets, so buy from the team that is at home that day: the schedule on the CPBL website shows who hosts each game. You can buy online, at the convenience store kiosk, or at the ballpark box office on the day.
- Wei Chuan Dragons (Tianmu and the Dragons' Dome games): the official ticket site or app, whose step-by-step guide is in English and Japanese. Online sales run until an hour after the first pitch; show the e-ticket at the gate, or print it at a FamilyMart FamiPort kiosk for NT$30 per order. You can also buy at FamiPort directly, with no fee. The box office takes cash, LINE Pay and a few local wallets, not cards.
- Fubon Guardians (Xinzhuang and the Guardians' Dome games): the official ticket site or app, card payment only; advance sales close at 23:59 the day before for Xinzhuang games, and an hour after the first pitch at the Dome. FamiPort kiosks sell regular seats with no fee. The box office takes cash, physical credit cards, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, and opens 1.5 hours before weekday games and 3 hours before weekend games at Xinzhuang.
- Other teams' Dome games are sold through that team's own channel, named on its website.
Prices depend on the seat, the ballpark and the day. The Fubon Guardians publish theirs in full; for 2026 they were:
| Fubon Guardians, 2026 | Weekday | Weekend |
|---|---|---|
| Xinzhuang, outfield (unreserved) | NT$250 | NT$300 |
| Xinzhuang, infield general | NT$400 | NT$550 |
| Xinzhuang, infield hot zone | NT$450 | NT$700 |
| Taipei Dome, B1 outfield | NT$400 (Tue, Wed); NT$600 (Fri) | NT$800 |
| Taipei Dome, B1 infield general | NT$600 (Tue, Wed); NT$900 (Fri) | NT$1,600 |
At both teams, children under 115 cm get in free with a parent if they do not take a seat. At Dragons games, half-price tickets are for students, seniors 65 and over and children 115 cm and taller, with ID.
Good to know: the Dragons sell a half-price "starlight ticket" (星光票) for weekday games at Tianmu and the Dome, from one hour after the first pitch at the box office (not in the hot zone). Great if you arrive late after work or dinner. For anything else, our guide to buying tickets in Taiwan as a foreigner covers FamiPort, ibon and paying with a foreign card.
The cheering
A CPBL game is loud from first pitch to last out. Each team has a squad of cheerleaders who lead dances and chants from a stage on the infield, and a block of home fans drums, blows whistles and beats plastic cheer sticks through the whole game. The squads' dance-and-chant style was borrowed from Korean baseball in 2013, and the cheerleaders have become celebrities in their own right; Taipei's tourism office credits them with drawing a new crowd to the game. The Dragons' squad is the Dragon Beauties, and the Guardians' is the Fubon Angels.
- Every batter has a song. Each player has his own chant, words and dance, which start when he comes up to bat.
- The rally song. When the home team has runners in scoring position, the stadium plays the team's big rally song, and the whole stadium may stand.
- Pick your zone. The infield hot zones next to the cheer stage are standing, singing sections; if you would rather sit and watch, choose general seats away from them. Away fans have their own section: left field at the Dome and at Xinzhuang.
Food and beer
Ballpark food in Taiwan means fried chicken cutlets, instant noodles, bento boxes and bubble tea as well as burgers and pizza, and vendors walk the stands pouring draft beer from tanks on their backs. Xinzhuang has more than 20 food counters, including Taiwan Beer, a FamilyMart and MOS Burger. At Tianmu the Dragons run their own kitchen alongside the food stalls, and you can order ahead in their system to skip the queue. The teams do not post a clear rule on bringing your own food, so ask at the gate if you plan to.
Getting there and getting home
Take the MRT. Parking around all three ballparks is limited, and on big nights the area around the Dome is busy. If a game runs long, check the last train times at your station.
- Taipei Dome. Walk to Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station. During big events the Dome runs six free shuttle bus routes, to Songshan Station, Taipei 101/World Trade Center, Songshan Airport, Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT, Gongguan MRT and Taipei Main Station. From Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall the last trains leave at 00:22 toward Dingpu and 00:57 toward Nangang Exhibition Center.
- Tianmu. The shuttle runs back to Zhishan Station until 30 minutes after the first pitch only, so after the game take the bus or walk to the station.
- Xinzhuang. Walk back to Xinzhuang Station on the Orange Line, which runs straight into central Taipei.
Team Taiwan
Baseball fever hit a new high in November 2024, when Taiwan beat Japan 4-0 at the Tokyo Dome to win the WBSC Premier12, the national team's first top world title. The team came home to fighter jets and a parade in Taipei, and the opening-round games had been played at the Taipei Dome and Tianmu. National team games in Taipei are sold by the event organizer, not the CPBL teams, and they sell out fast. Buy the day the sale opens.
