The MICHELIN Guide Taiwan 2026 gives Taipei 47 starred restaurants: 2 with three stars, 9 with two and 36 with one. Two of Taiwan's three three-star restaurants are here. Below is the full Taipei starred list from the 2026 edition, announced in July 2026, with each restaurant's cuisine, district and nearest MRT station. For cheaper eating, the same guide names 37 Taipei Bib Gourmand picks, which we link rather than copy. Inside Taipei is an independent travel guide, not connected to Michelin.
We lived in Taipei for years, and the restaurants were one of the things we loved most about it. The stars are only a sliver of that, but they are a useful map when you want a big night out.
How the MICHELIN Guide works in Taipei
Michelin's anonymous inspectors pay for their meals and publish a new selection every year. Taipei got its first guide in 2018, and it has since grown into a Taiwan-wide guide: the 2026 edition is the ninth, and it covers 434 restaurants across Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County. Taipei has 156 of them, more than any other city.
- Three stars: exceptional cuisine.
- Two stars: excellent cooking.
- One star: high quality cooking.
- Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking. In Taipei that means beef noodle shops, braised pork rice counters and night market stalls as much as restaurants.
- Selected: restaurants the inspectors recommend without an award.
- Green Star: a separate badge for sustainable gastronomy. Taipei's five in 2026 are EMBERS, Hosu, Little Tree Food (Da'an Road), Mountain and Sea House and Yangming Spring (Shilin).
Good to know: the list changes every summer, and restaurants open, move and close in between. Before you book, check the restaurant's page on the official MICHELIN Guide Taipei listing, then book directly with the restaurant. Starred dining rooms are small, so book well ahead.
What changed in 2026
Le Palais and Taïrroir kept their three stars. Mizue arrived straight in at two stars and NOBUO rose from one star to two. Kiku, Mume and Silks House moved up to one star from last year's Selected list, and Restaurant 12, up on Yangmingshan, entered the guide with a star. Every restaurant that held stars in 2025 kept them in 2026.

Bib Gourmand: where most of the good eating is
The Bib Gourmand list is the one we would point most visitors to. Taipei has 37 Bib Gourmand picks in 2026, 4 of them new: Ching Jiao (青嬌, chicken soup), Open Smile (開囍, braised pork), Toriaezu Curry (武田咖哩, Japanese curry) and Yu Yu 1969 (有有1969, Taiwanese stir-fries). The list also includes Din Tai Fung's Xinyi Road branch, the beef noodle shops Lao Shan Dong and Tien Hsia San Chueh, and a handful of night market stalls. Rather than copy all 37 here, see the official Taipei Bib Gourmand list, which stays current. We pick out the classic dishes and the Bib places that serve them on the pages below.
→ The dishes to eat in Taipei → Beef noodle soup → Taiwanese breakfast
The same guide covers Taiwan's other big cities. Tainan earned its first Michelin star in 2026 (→ the Tainan Michelin list on Inside Tainan), and the stars and Bib Gourmand picks further along the high speed rail are on Inside Taichung's Taichung MICHELIN Guide restaurants and Inside Kaohsiung's Kaohsiung Michelin list.
